International Participation
Note: International visitors should consult with multiple sources, including their embassies, home institutions, and advocacy groups when planning travel. Policies are changing quickly and subject to varying interpretation by border agents. International travelers are encouraged to travel through an airport offering preclearance for US entry if possible.

We are committed to promoting global participation in our annual Evolution conference. To this end, we have taken the following steps to help accommodate international participants at our 2025 meeting:
- For meeting attendees not traveling with personal electronic devices, talk slides can be uploaded up to 2 weeks in advance of the conference, and there are computers for checking whether slides work with our presentation software (PowerPoint preferred for auto-captioning; PDF allowed). However, there are not sufficient facilities for extensive writing or editing of presentations, so if you are not bringing a device, make sure your talk is ready or look for facilities elsewhere in Athens before arriving.
- When signing up for a virtual talk during the virtual meeting, there is an option to indicate a preference as to when your talk is scheduled to better accommodate your time zone.
- For talks at the virtual conference, attendees have the option of presenting in English, French or Spanish.
- While in-person talks will be presented in English, select recorded plenaries will be available on the Evolution YouTube channel after the conference and can be made viewable with captions.
- During registration, virtual and in-person attendees who are not native English speakers can request a bilingual mentor to help them prepare their abstract, talk presentation slides, and recording. Bilingual attendees have the opportunity to volunteer to be mentors during registration.
- An International Social, plus a variety of other coffee/mixer events, are scheduled during the conference. See the Workshops and Special Events page for a complete schedule.
- Funding opportunities to attend either virtually or in-person are available to international participants. See the Participant Support page for more information.
- Invitation letters can be provided after you have paid for registration by contacting conference organizers to request a letter for visa applications at [email protected].
