Description: The SSE Graduate Student Advisory Council is organizing a coffee break for people who are attending the Evolution meeting without their lab group or advisor. This event, which will feature a panel of experts in science policy, will equip you with the tools you need to begin engaging with key decision makers in your community.

Description: The SEE Graduate Student Advisory Committee is sponsoring registration costs for ten local undergraduate students to attend a day (Saturday) at Evolution 2019. Selected undergraduates will be paired with graduate mentors from around the country to help them navigate the meeting and answer any questions the students may have before and during the event. Applications for undergraduates and graduate mentors will be posted soon. Please check back or email the organizers for more information.

Description: iEvoBio is a satellite event bringing together evolutionary biologists who work on a broad spectrum of problems involving computation, mathematics and statistics. More information at the iEvoBio website. Registration for iEvoBio includes two events: the software bazaar and a post-conference workshop. The software bazaar is similar to a poster session, but presenters have laptops instead of posters. The software bazaar will be in the same room as the main conference poster session. More exposure for your software! Presenters are expected to bring their own laptops.

Description: The ASN/SSB/SSE are partnering with The Story Collider, a nonprofit that is dedicated to sharing true, personal stories about science. Story Collider works with storytellers from both inside and outside science to develop these stories and share them through their weekly podcast and live shows around the world. Since 2010, The Story Collider has produced 200+ shows and published 350+ episodes which now averages 130,000 monthly listens and has been download over nine million times!
Stories from Outside the Distribution features personal accounts from a diverse group of evolutionary biologists.
Complimentary childcare will be provided during for Sunday evening for parents wishing to attend this event. Sign up for childcare during registration.This event is in place of the former Diversity mixer.

You can indicate your interest in participating during main conference registration, and we will send out surveys to match students with faculty in late May. Groups will be responsible for finding their own lunch venues and will be capped at 5 students per faculty member, so student attendance may be limited to a first-come, first-serve basis once the surveys go out.
