Think green! Consider taking the train, bus, or car/vanpooling.
Driving? Consult our ride share Google sheet to find/offer a ride. (note - information is open for public viewing)
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is the closest airport to Athens. From the airport, we recommend taking a direct shuttle via Groome to Athens (book here: www.groometransportation.com/athens ) that does stops and pick ups at the following locations close to the Hotels in Athens: UGA GA Center, Classic Center. Cost = $52 one way.
Note: We have organized with Groome for increased numbers of trips for conference participants, but please book your shuttle one month in advance of the conference if possible to allow for planning.
When booking you will need all of your flight information which will include what time your plane will land, flight number, and what airline you’ll be flying with. You will also have the option of booking the return trip from Athens so that you can pay for both reservations at the same time. Groome's system is set up to get passengers that are taking a domestic flight to the airport two hours in advance and international passengers three hours in advance.
If there’s a flight delay and you aren’t going to make your shuttle time, you’ll need to call the office as soon as the information about the new arrival time is given to them so that dispatch can change you to the next available shuttle ((706) 612-1155).
